Welcome to the Q&A page

Q: What is the difference of OKmindmap with other mindmap?

There are some web based mindmaps. Most of them use flash or java, which means you have to install the plugin. OKmindmap is pure javascript techonolgy. So, you don't need to install any other plugin. It also use SVG standard which is supported by most of web browsers, and support scaled graphics with speed and resolution.

Q: Why the service runs very slow?

If you are using IE 8, the VML engine is running instead of SVG engine. This cause time delay. It runs OK with Firefox, Chrome, and even IE 9. We strongly suggest not to use IE 8 and previous browsers.

Q: What element can be used as mindmap nodes?

You can add text, image, and html component as nodes. only web-image is supported currently. The html node cause some trouble in rendering except with Chrome currently.

Q: How many people can work together on same map?

Because collaboration works on text chatting speed, many people can work on same map simultaneously. The test has been done with 40 people. Too many people will bother group work because of so many changes on screen. You can add text, image, and html component as nodes. only web-image is supported currently. The html node cause some trouble in rendering except with Chrome currently.

It will be dual license. The source will soon be avaliable on sourceforge.

Yes, you can use the service even without registration. For that case you need to remember the unque internet address of the map. Even the registered user can use the service free. We suggest you to backup your mindmap in your local repository for the case of service irregularity. The whole service is available as package software for your own site construction.
